The Blackheath Art Society in South East London was launched in 1947 by distinguished artists and educators with links to Goldsmiths College, Camberwell School of Art and the Royal Academy. Graham Sutherland was first President to the Society, Victor Pasmore the second, and our current President is Terry Scales, former lecturer at Camberwell Art College, http://terryscales.blogspot.com

Many current members who work as artists or designers and in art education studied at these colleges and at other prestigious art institutions in the UK and abroad.

The Blackheath Art Society holds exhibitions locally each year and also meets for sketching and photography trips, visits to art galleries, museums and places of interest.

Covid19 is currently interrupting our programme (March 2020).  We hope this will be over for us, and for everyone, as soon as possible when we can all resume our usual activities!

We are sad to bring the news that Cristiana Angelini, a prolific and very talented painter, has recently died.  She will be very much missed by her loving family and her partner, Terry Scales.

Cristiana was a long term member of Blackheath art Society, always entering work at our exhibitions.  She was known as a kind, supportive and generous person and we will miss her lively presence.  Here she is in animated conversation at a Private View.

Terry Scales has written a tribute to Cristiana on his website:
